I had many plans to carry out before the morning was through and you had risen from the bed. I leave the barracks after showering and head outside quickly. Even though it is late December, it is unusually warm, and perfect weather for a beachside picnic. But on this day... We would have more to celebrate than just Christmas together here in Hawaii. I reached into the pocket of my cargo shorts and took a deep breath. Inside it, was a box containing what I hoped would be the rest of my life. The ring was nothing special, as I could not afford a huge diamond. But in my heart I knew thatI was ready to at least ask. I took the small black velvet covered container out of my pocket and opened it. Gazing at the diamond and silver engagement ring that glittered back at me.* " I don't know what I am doing, Evelyn, and I am crazy scared, but I know that I have faith in you." *With that I put it back in my pocket and head off to get the picnic ready.*
